How To Be Present On Your Wedding Day

With all the details that go into your wedding day, it can be challenging for some brides to be present on their wedding day. Here are some helpful tips that will help you slow down and savor each experience, from getting ready with your loved ones to exchanging vows with your partner.

NUMBER 1 – HAVE A POINT PERSON

Hire a planner or have a trusted friend or family member (who is not in the bridal party or immediate family) to be the point person. Before a wedding, I always ask my clients for a phone number of someone who will know answers to questions day of. You don’t want to be getting ready for your day constantly on your phone or answering questions. So, take the burden off yourself!

NUMBER 2 – PLAN A TIME JUST THE TWO OF YOU

Plan 15-20 minutes just the two of you during cocktail hour or reception to be together. This will allow you to take it all in. In addition, reflect on the day and the people that came to celebrate with you. At a wedding I shot video for, a couple asked the caterer to prepare plates with all the cocktail hour apps. Then, they went in another space for 15 minutes to just decompress before the reception started. This included photo and video professionals not bothering them either. I loved this idea!

NUMBER 3 – SEND YOUR TIMELINE TO VENDERS

Once you make the timeline either with your planner/photographer or other vendors, send it to everyone. This includes the bridal party, family, and anyone else doing anything day of. Then, everyone should know what’s happening and on time!

NUMBER 4 – MAKE A FAMILY PHOTO LIST

Your photographer will probably ask you for a family photo list. Decide if you want just immediate family or extended family photos. Then, add it to the timeline accordingly.
